Love will be in the air at Fall River’s Lizzie Borden House
Lizzie Borden might not be the first thought that comes to mind when thinking of Valentine’s Day, but The Historic Lizzie Borden House is hoping so.
The crime scene, now a museum with cozy accommodations on the second and third floors, will be creating a romantic setting for lovebirds on the special day.
Guests who book at Lizzie-Borden.com/stay can opt in for rose petals, LED candles and hatchet-wielding teddy bears for a little extra fun when they walk into their Victorian-era bedrooms.
If that’s not enough, the house can also slip blood-covered foam hatchets under the pillows and serve up a hot breakfast the next morning in the dining room, where replicas of the victims’ skulls are displayed in a case.
A daytime house tour, walking ghost tour of the neighborhood or late-night ghost hunt inside the house – regarded as one of the most haunted locations in the United States – can round out the unforgettable experience.
“This is a great time of year to explore amazing history in your backyard and make one-of-a-kind memories with the people you love,” house manager Jared Robinson said.
The house at 230 Second Street owned by U.S. Ghost Adventures offers lodging in six rooms, including the second-floor guest bedroom where 64-year-old Abby Borden was killed August 4, 1892. Abby’s husband, Andrew, was killed about 90 minutes later in the first floor sitting room. All rooms have been restored to appear the way they did in 1892.
