Did you know that rumors are that the series “American Horror Story: Hotel” is based on a real life hotel- The Cecil Hotel in downtown LA!
There are multiple references to the Cecil Hotel. One, is an episode named Devil's Night, which features Richard Ramirez- a serial killer who stayed at the Cecil Hotel during his murder spree in the mid 1980s. The creator of the show Ryan Murphy was inspired by the Cecil Hotel to make American Horror Story: Hotel and the two hotels alarmingly similar.
In 2017, Lantern Ghost Tours investigated stories of hauntings at The Cecil Hotel in downtown LA and discovered a grisly past….much worse than American Horror Story! The Cecil Hotel has always had its spark to murderers, drug addicts, rapists and many more that you wouldn’t expect to happen ALWAYS in one place. And according to the Cecil Hotel staff, it happens almost every other month!
